Delete your account or workspace
You can delete your Ody account yourself from Settings โ Profile on the web or More โ Account in the iOS app. Deletion is scheduled 30 days out so you can change your mind, and it's blocked while a paid subscription is still active on a workspace only you own.
Here's what each option does, honestly:
Cancel your subscription (keeps your data)
- Click Settings in the left rail, then Billing.
- Scroll to Cancel subscription and click Cancel plan, then follow the confirmation flow.
Cancelling stops future billing and deactivates the workspace, but it does not erase anything โ conversations, contacts, and settings are retained so you can reactivate later by choosing a plan again. Only workspace owners and admins can cancel. Plans bought in the iPhone app are billed by Apple โ cancel those from Ody โ Settings โ Billing โ Manage subscription or iPhone Settings โ Subscriptions (Billing on iOS). See Cancel your subscription.
Leave a workspace (keep your account)
If you just want out of one workspace: Settings โ Members & roles, then click the trash icon on your own row (Leave workspace). If you're the only owner, promote someone else to Owner first.
Delete your account permanently (self-serve)
Before you start
- Cancel any paid plan on a workspace only you own (Settings โ Billing โ Cancel plan). A workspace on a free trial doesn't block โ the trial is cancelled for you when you confirm.
- If teammates rely on a workspace you alone own, promote one of them to Owner first (Settings โ Members & roles). Otherwise deleting your account would delete their workspace too, so Ody stops you.
- Want to keep your phone number? Port it to another provider before you delete โ a released number can't be recovered.
Step-by-step
- On the web, click your avatar โ Settings โ Profile and scroll to Delete account. On iOS, open More โ Account โ Delete account.
- Read the summary. Ody lists the workspaces that will be deleted (the ones only you own), the workspaces you'll simply leave (shared ones โ they stay with the other owners) and any free trials that will be cancelled now.
- If anything is listed under Before you can delete your account, fix it first (cancel the plan, or promote another owner); the button stays disabled until you do.
- Click Delete my account and confirm.
You're signed out of every device immediately, and the deletion is scheduled for 30 days later.
What gets deleted
When the 30 days are up, Ody permanently erases:
- Your profile, sign-in identity and notification preferences.
- Every workspace only you own: phone numbers (released to the carrier), conversations, messages, contacts, call recordings, voicemails, transcripts, Astra settings, integrations and API keys.
- Your name and email from our email/CRM provider.
In workspaces you share with other owners, you're simply removed; your past messages and call notes stay there, attributed to "Deleted user", so your former teammates' history isn't broken.
What we keep: invoices and tax records we're legally required to retain (typically 7 years), and an anonymised record that a deletion happened (a one-way hash of your email, no other personal data) so we can prove we honoured your request. This matches the Privacy Policy (GDPR Article 17 / CCPA "right to delete").
Changed your mind? Cancel the deletion
Sign in again any time before the scheduled date. Both the web app and the iOS app show Your account is scheduled for deletion with a Keep my account button โ tap it and everything is restored instantly (except free trials that were cancelled at request time; start a new plan from Settings โ Billing).
Troubleshooting
- "Before you can delete your account" mentions a plan โ open Settings โ Billing in that workspace and cancel the plan. Deletion is allowed as soon as the plan is set to end at the period close; you don't have to wait for it to actually expire. If the message says the plan is billed by Apple, cancel it in iPhone Settings โ your name โ Subscriptions โ Ody โ Ody can't cancel App Store subscriptions for you.
- It mentions teammates โ promote another member to Owner in Settings โ Members & roles, or remove them if the workspace is truly done.
- Deleted by mistake, and it's been more than 30 days โ we can't recover it; the data is gone. Email [email protected] if you need the anonymised confirmation of deletion.
- Prefer to ask a human โ email [email protected] from the account's email address and we'll file the request for you; the same 30-day grace period applies.

Frequently asked questions
Does cancelling my subscription delete my data?
No โ cancelling stops billing and restricts the workspace, but nothing is erased. To erase everything, use Delete account (Settings โ Profile on the web, More โ Account on iOS).
How long until my data is actually gone?
30 days after you confirm. During those 30 days you can sign back in and tap Keep my account to cancel. After that the deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
Why can't I delete my account while I'm subscribed?
Deleting an account also deletes the workspaces only you own, and an active paid plan would keep billing for them. Cancel the plan in Settings โ Billing first, then delete. Free trials don't block โ they're cancelled for you the moment you confirm.
What happens to my phone number?
It's released when the deletion completes and can't be recovered. If you want to keep it, port it to another provider before you delete.
I just want out of one workspace, not Ody entirely.
Use Leave workspace on your own row in Settings โ Members & roles (promote someone else to Owner first if you're the only one).
