Change your password
Change your password in Settings → Profile under Password: click Change password, confirm it's you, type the new one and save. If you sign in with Google or Apple you will see Set a password instead, which adds a password alongside that sign-in.
Before you start
- Passwords are 8 to 128 characters and cannot be made of spaces only. Use a long, unique one from a password manager; the strength meter shows how you are doing.
- Changing or setting a password needs a recent sign-in. If it has been more than ten minutes, Ody shows Confirm it's you before saving.
- This is for when you still know how to get in. If you forgot your password, use Reset a forgotten password instead.
- Available on the web app at app.ody.co (on your phone: More → Settings → Profile). The iPhone and Android apps use the new password the next time you sign in.
Step-by-step
Click Settings in the left rail, then Profile.
Under Password, click Change password (or Set a password if you sign in with Google or Apple and have none yet).
If asked to Confirm it's you, enter your current password and click Confirm, or click Continue with Google / Apple. Then Ody returns you to the password form.
Type your New password and confirm it.
Click Save new password (or Set password). Ody saves it, signs out every other device, and emails you a Your Ody password was changed notice.
Troubleshooting
- "That password isn't right." while confirming it's you: you typed your current password wrong. Try again, or click Forgot your password? to get a reset link by email.
- "Use at least 8 characters." / "The two passwords don't match.": fix the new password and save again.
- You got the "password was changed" email but didn't do it: open the Secure my account button in that email, which takes you straight to the reset form, choose a new password, then reply to the email so our team can review.
- Google or Apple account and no Password row: you are in demo mode or the live API is unavailable. Reload app.ody.co and sign in again.

Frequently asked questions
I sign in with Google. Can I add a password?
Yes. Under Password in Settings → Profile, click Set a password. Google keeps working and you gain a second way to sign in, which also protects you if that Google account ever changes.
Why does Ody ask me to confirm it's me first?
Changing a password is sensitive, so Ody needs a sign-in from the last ten minutes. Enter your current password, or continue with Google or Apple, and the change goes through.
Will changing my password sign me out?
Only everywhere else. The device you make the change on stays signed in; every other phone, tablet or browser needs the new password.
