Email notifications: choose what Ody emails you

Updated Thu Sep 03 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)Web & iOS

Ody can email you when something needs a human — a call you missed, a text nobody answered, a call the AI receptionist took — and can send you a recap of your workspace's activity every day, week or month. You choose exactly which emails you want in Settings → Notifications. Every switch is personal: it changes what you receive, not what your teammates receive.

Getting there

The page shows your email address at the top so you know where the emails go. To change the address itself, see Update your profile.

Activity alerts (on by default)

These emails are about a single event and link straight to the conversation in Ody.

Email When it's sent Who receives it
Missed call An inbound call to one of your numbers wasn't picked up by a person or the AI receptionist (no answer, busy, or the caller hung up). Sent within seconds. Members of that number's inbox who have the switch on
Unanswered text An inbound text has gone 10 minutes without a reply from the team. The email includes the latest message and how many are waiting. At most one email every 4 hours per conversation until someone replies. Members of that number's inbox who have the switch on
AI receptionist recap The AI receptionist answered a call and the conversation summary is ready in the app — typically a few minutes after the call ends. The email carries the summary; the full transcript is in the conversation. Members of that number's inbox who have the switch on

Replying from Ody — a text or a call back — is what counts as "answered". Auto-replies sent by Ody itself don't stop the unanswered-text alert.

Analytics digests (off by default)

Subscribe to as many as you like. Each one reports on the period that just closed, compared with the period before it: total calls (inbound, outbound, missed, AI-answered), answer rate, talk time, messages in and out, average first-reply time, new conversations, and your most active teammate.

Digest Arrives Covers
Daily Every morning around 7 am, your time zone Yesterday
Weekly Monday morning around 7 am Monday to Sunday of last week
Monthly The 1st of the month around 7 am The previous calendar month

The digest uses the time zone Ody detected when you created your account, so a teammate in Sydney and one in Denver each get "yesterday" as they lived it (if no time zone is known, Ody falls back to UTC). Digests are workspace-wide (all inboxes), and each member subscribes independently — a manager can take the monthly one while the front desk takes the daily one.

Changing a setting

Flip the switch. It saves immediately (you'll see a brief confirmation), and the next email of that kind respects the new setting. There is no "save" button and no need to sign out.

If you're in more than one workspace, set your preferences in each — they're stored per workspace, so you can get missed-call alerts for your main line without hearing about a side project.

What's still in-app only

Unread badges, the incoming-call banner and ringing stay in the app and can't be switched off. Push notifications (lock-screen alerts on iPhone, browser notifications on the web) are on the roadmap; they'll be added to this page with their own switches.

Frequently asked questions

Can I turn off specific notifications?

Yes. Settings → Notifications has one switch per email: missed calls, unanswered texts, AI receptionist recaps, and the daily, weekly and monthly analytics digests. Changes save instantly and apply only to you.

Why did I get a missed-call email but my teammate didn't?

Preferences are personal. Each member of the workspace chooses their own emails, and only members of the inbox the call came in on are emailed.

When does the analytics digest arrive?

Around 7 am in your own time zone, right after the period closes: every morning for the daily digest, Monday mornings for the weekly one, and the first of the month for the monthly one.

Will I be emailed for every text a customer sends?

No. Ody waits 10 minutes; if nobody on the team has replied by then, you get one email with the latest message, and at most one email every 4 hours for the same conversation until someone answers.

Do I get push notifications too?

Not yet — these settings cover email. Push notifications for the iPhone app and browser are on the roadmap and will appear on the same page.
