Privacy: what Ody collects and why
The Ody Privacy Policy at ody.co/privacy explains exactly what Ody (operated by Origns Inc.) collects, why, who processes it, how long it is kept, and how to exercise your rights. This article is the short, practical version.
Who the policy covers
- Account holders and team members — Ody is the "controller" of your account, billing, identity-verification, and usage information.
- Your callers and contacts — Ody processes their information only as a service provider on behalf of your business. You decide whether calls are recorded and how long contacts are kept; if a caller asks you about their data, you own that answer and Ody helps you fulfil it.
What Ody stores

Who processes it
Every provider is listed by name in Section 8 of the policy, with what it receives and why. The main ones: Google Cloud (hosting, database, storage, Gemini AI), Stripe (payments and identity), OpenAI models via Vercel AI Gateway (call transcription and summaries), Customer.io (email), Apple and Google (sign-in and push), Nango (integrations you connect), Cloudflare, PostHog, Google Ads (marketing site and sign-up — when you finish signing up, the Google tag reports the sign-up to Google Ads together with a one-way hash of the email, phone number and name you gave us, so ad performance can be measured; the plain values never leave your browser), Meta (Facebook/Instagram ads — the Ody pixel on ody.co landing pages including a Lead event when you click Try free, the sign-up wizard, and the post-identity welcome page, so Meta can measure which ads led to a visit and a real account; it is not loaded in the signed-in app, and browsers that send Global Privacy Control skip it on ody.co), and Trustpilot (review invitations). All data lives in the United States.
Calls, recording, and AI
- New workspaces are recorded for safety. While a workspace is on a trial, not yet identity-verified, or less than 30 days old, every answered call — inbound, forwarded, voicemail and outbound softphone — is recorded and transcribed, and each transcript is automatically screened for known phone-scam patterns. Personal data (phone numbers, names, card and account digits, emails, addresses) is masked before screening; a member of Ody's team only reads an anonymised transcript if the screen flags a likely scam. - After the monitored period, recording is off by default and is enabled per number at your request. Ody does not play an automatic "this call is recorded" announcement — your business must give any notice the law requires.
- Voicemails are transcribed by Ody's own speech-to-text service. Recorded calls can be transcribed and summarized by OpenAI models when you enable call intelligence.
- Astra answers calls on Ody's voice AI platform using the instructions and knowledge you configure.
- Suggested replies and the support assistant use Google Gemini.
- Ody does not use your content to train general-purpose AI models, and its providers are not permitted to.
The iOS app
The iPhone app does not read your address book, photos, or location, and contains no third-party analytics SDKs. On first launch it shows Apple's Allow Ody to track… prompt so Ody can measure which ads brought you to the app (your email and whether you started a plan). Tap Ask App Not to Track if you prefer — every feature still works. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Push notifications include the sender and a message preview; hide previews in iOS Settings → Notifications → Ody if you prefer.

Does Ody use my calls and texts to train AI?
No. Ody does not use your content to train general-purpose AI models, and its AI providers are not permitted to either. AI features only process the specific data needed to return a result to you.
Are my calls recorded?
During your workspace's first 30 days (or while it is on a trial or not yet identity-verified), every answered call is recorded and automatically screened for phone-scam patterns with names, numbers and card digits masked. After that, calls are recorded only if your workspace turns recording on for a number. Ody does not play an automatic announcement, so your business is responsible for any notice or consent the law requires.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual messages, recordings, and contacts in the app. To erase your whole account, use Delete account (Settings → Profile on the web, More → Account on iOS): it's scheduled 30 days out so you can change your mind, then everything is permanently erased.
