Receive calls in Ody
When a customer calls your Ody number, every teammate's app rings at once by default — answer from the incoming-call panel on the Calls screen, or from the banner that appears on any other screen.
Before you start
- Keep an Ody tab open — the softphone registers whenever the app is open, on any screen. A closed tab can't ring.
- The number must be set to ring the team. If it's connected to the AI agent, a phone menu, or voicemail, calls go there instead — see Number voice modes.
Step-by-step
When a call comes in on the Calls screen, a full incoming-call panel appears with the caller's name and number.
Press the green Accept button to take the call, or the red Decline button to send it onward (to voicemail, or the next person in a ring order).
On any other screen, a banner appears at the top of the app with Answer and Decline buttons — answering opens the Calls screen with the call active.
On mobile web and iPhone, a full-screen incoming-call overlay shows Decline and Accept buttons.
How ringing works
- Everyone at once (default) — every teammate with the app open rings; the first to answer wins.
- Ring order — ring teammates one at a time in a priority list (see Ring order — who rings first).
- Assigned number — a number assigned to one teammate rings just that person.
- No answer — the call falls through to voicemail after the ring duration (20 seconds by default).
- Work schedule — during and outside working hours, calls can be answered differently (see Business hours call routing).
Troubleshooting
- If calls go straight to voicemail without ringing, work through Can't receive incoming calls.
- If you don't hear a ringtone but see the banner, click anywhere in the tab once — browsers only allow sound after you've interacted with the page.
- Close stale Ody tabs left open for many hours on other machines — a dead session can interfere with ringing.

Does Ody ring when the tab is closed?
No. Web calling needs an open Ody tab (any screen). On iPhone, the app rings while it's open; background ringing is coming with push-notification support.
Who on my team rings?
By default everyone's app rings at once and the first to answer takes the call. You can change this per number with a ring order, or assign the number to one teammate.
