Make your first call from Ody
Ody calls run right in your browser (or the iPhone app) — open Calls, type a number on the dial pad, and press the green call button.
Before you start
- Your workspace needs an active phone number (see Buy a phone number).
- Your browser needs microphone access — you'll be prompted the first time (see Microphone permission issues).
- Check the status pill next to the "Calls" title: it should read Softphone · +1 … with a green dot. If it says Connecting… wait a moment; if it says Calling offline, see Can't make outgoing calls.
Step-by-step
Click Calls in the left sidebar.
On the DIAL PAD panel on the right, enter the number using the on-screen keypad. A 10-digit US number is fine — Ody adds the +1 for you.
Press the green call button under the keypad. A call card appears showing "Calling…", then the call timer once the other side answers.
To hang up, press the red end call button at the bottom of the call card.
You can also call someone back straight from your history: click any row in the call log (or the phone icon on the row) and Ody dials that number.
On your phone (mobile web): tap Calls in the bottom tab bar, then the round dialer button in the bottom-right corner to open the dial pad sheet.
Troubleshooting
- If you see the toast "Calling isn't connected yet — check your number in Settings", your workspace doesn't have an active number yet — buy or activate one in Settings → Numbers.
- If you see "All lines are busy — please try again in a moment", your workspace hit its concurrent-call limit; wait for a line to free up.
- US and Canadian numbers are included in every plan. Calling other countries needs the International calling add-on — see International calling.

What number do customers see when I call?
Your outbound caller ID is the number assigned to you in Settings → Numbers, or your workspace's first active number if none is assigned to you.
Do I need to type +1 for US numbers?
No — a 10-digit US number works as-is. For other formats, include the country code (Ody calls US and Canadian numbers).
Can I call from my phone?
Yes — the mobile web app and the iPhone app both have a dialer. On mobile web, tap the dialer button in the bottom-right of the Calls tab.
