Call forwarding
You can forward every call on a number to any outside phone — your cell, an answering service, a colleague — with a per-number toggle in Settings. Forwarding is reversible in one click, and the destination is remembered so re-enabling is instant.
Step-by-step
Click Settings in the left sidebar, then Numbers.
On the number's card, click Forwarding.
Toggle Forward all calls on.
Enter the destination under Forward to (e.g.
+1 (512) 555-0123).Click Save forwarding. Every inbound call to this line now rings the destination instead of your team or AI.
On iPhone: Settings → Numbers, tap the number, and use the Call forwarding section.
What forwarding changes
- Every call forwards. While forwarding is on, the destination phone rings instead of your team in the app and instead of the AI receptionist.
- Your call log stays complete. Forwarded calls show in the Calls tab tagged Forwarded to +1…, with the caller, time, and duration.
- No answer goes to the destination's voicemail. If the forwarded-to phone doesn't pick up, the caller hears that phone's voicemail — not a second Ody greeting.
- Turning it off restores in-app ringing. The saved destination stays, so you can flip forwarding back on later without retyping it.
Forwarding internationally
Forwarding to a number outside the US and Canada requires the International calling add-on ($5/mo) and a funded balance — Ody checks when you save, and tells you exactly what's missing. Forwarded international minutes meter against your international balance at the same public per-minute rates as direct dialing. See International calling.
Other ways to route calls
- Forward one menu option: a phone menu key can forward callers ("press 1" → your cell) while other keys ring the team — see Set up a phone menu on your number.
- Forward a live call: press Transfer on the call card — see Transfer a call.
Troubleshooting
- "A valid forwarding number is required" — enter the full number with country code
(e.g.
+15125550123). Spaces, dashes, and parentheses are fine. - "Forwarding to an international number needs the International calling add-on" — turn the add-on on in Settings → International calling, or forward to a US/Canada number.
- A number can't forward to itself — pick a different destination.
