Can't find a call or Astra conversation in Inbox

Updated Fri Oct 02 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)Web & iOS

Every call to or from your Ody numbers lives in two places: as a row in Calls (the chronological log) and as an entry on the caller's conversation in Inbox (where the recording, transcript, and recap are). If a call seems to be missing, work through the checks below.

Where calls show up

  1. Click Calls in the left sidebar. Every inbound, outbound, missed call and voicemail is a row here, newest first, with the direction, duration, and time. Calls Astra answered carry an Astra chip.
  2. Click Inbox in the left sidebar. Each row in the list is one contact's conversation (sometimes called a thread) — click it to open the timeline on the right. The row's preview shows the latest activity, for example ✦ AI answered · 52s after an Astra call.
  3. In the timeline, calls look like this:
    • Inbound call · 4m 12s · 3:41 PM or Outbound call · 13s · 9:02 AM — a call your team answered or placed. If the number is recording, it expands into a card with the audio player, transcript, and AI summary.
    • Missed call · Call back — an inbound call nobody answered.
    • Voicemail — a card with the player and the transcript underneath.
    • Astra answered this call — the AI card with the recap, key points, duration, and View transcript.

On your phone: Inbox tab → tap the contact → the same entries are in the thread; tap View transcript under a call, voicemail, or Astra card to read it.

Checks, in order

  1. Look in Calls first. If the row is there, the call reached Ody. Note the number and time, then find that contact in Inbox — the Inbox list is sorted by latest activity, so a call from an hour ago may be a few rows down. Scroll until you find the caller's name or number.
  2. Is the Inbox filter hiding it? The Inbox shows Open conversations by default. If someone marked that contact's conversation Done, switch the filter to Done at the top of the list. Mine shows only conversations assigned to you; All numbers widens the view back to every number if a number filter is set.
  3. Astra card with "Astra is writing up the recap…" — the call just ended. The transcript and recap are fetched and written in the background and usually land within five minutes. Reopen or refresh the conversation. If the card still says Transcript not available yet after 30 minutes, the voice engine never exposed that conversation (typically a call that ended within the first second or two) — the call and its duration stay in the thread, and there is nothing to retry.
  4. A plain "Inbound call" where you expected Astra — the call rang your team (or went to voicemail), not Astra. Check the number's label in Settings → Numbers and your Work schedule: Astra only answers when the number is connected to the AI, or during the hours your schedule routes to it.
  5. No transcript on a call a person answered — transcripts of team-answered calls need call recording on for that number. Open Settings → Numbers, click the Recording chip under the number, and switch it on (Growth plan and up). Calls before the switch can't be transcribed after the fact. Voicemails and Astra calls are always transcribed.
  6. An outbound call you made from your mobile phone, not from Ody — only calls placed from the Ody web app, iOS app, or API appear here. Calls dialled from your personal phone's dialler never touch Ody.
  7. Nothing in Calls either — the call never reached Ody. If the caller heard "your call cannot be completed", see Can't receive incoming calls; otherwise check that they dialled your Ody number (not a forwarded-to number).

If the call shows in Calls but you still can't find it in Inbox after these checks, send us the number and the time of the call — we can trace the exact call.

Frequently asked questions

What does "open the conversation" mean?

In Inbox, each row is one contact — that row is the conversation (or thread). Click it to see everything with that person in order: texts, calls, voicemails, and Astra calls. There is no separate screen called "conversation thread".

Astra answered a call but I only see a card with no transcript — is it broken?

No. The card appears the moment the call ends; the recap and transcript are written in the background and arrive within a few minutes. Refresh the conversation if it's been open a while.

Why is there no transcript of the call I answered?

Calls your team answers are only transcribed when call recording is on for that number. Turn it on in Settings → Numbers → Recording (Growth plan and up). Voicemails and Astra calls are always transcribed.
