No audio or one-way audio on calls

One-way audio nearly always splits cleanly: they can't hear you = a microphone problem; you can't hear them = an output-device problem; total silence both ways = the network blocking the audio stream.
They can't hear you
- Mic permission — the most common cause. Check the camera/mic icon in the address bar; the mic must be allowed for app.ody.co. Per-browser steps: Microphone permission issues.
- Wrong input device — if you have several mics (laptop, headset, webcam), the browser may be capturing a dead one. Pick the right input in your browser's site settings or OS sound settings, then refresh the tab.
- Muted somewhere — check the Mute button on the call card (highlighted = muted), a hardware mute switch on your headset, and the OS input volume.
- Another app holds the mic — close video-conferencing or recording apps, then refresh.
You can't hear them
- Output device — the browser may be sending audio to a disconnected Bluetooth headset or an unused monitor's speakers. Check your OS output device and volume.
- Tab muted — browsers let you mute individual tabs; check the Ody tab's speaker icon.
- Hold — if the call is on hold (the Hold button is highlighted), neither side hears the other. Press it again to resume.
Silence both ways / robotic audio
- VPN or firewall — real-time audio travels over UDP; strict corporate firewalls and some VPNs block it, leaving a connected call with no media. Test without the VPN or on a phone hotspot.
- Poor network — heavy packet loss can gate audio entirely. See Call quality tips.
- Refresh and retry — after any device or network change, refresh the tab so the softphone renegotiates cleanly.

Frequently asked questions
They can't hear me but I can hear them — what's that?
Almost always the microphone: permission blocked, the wrong input device selected, or you're muted (in Ody or on the headset itself).
I can't hear them but they hear me — what's that?
An output problem: the browser is playing audio to a different device (e.g. a disconnected Bluetooth headset), or the tab/system output is muted.
