Why texts are blurred during the free trial
During the 7-day free trial, texts sent to your Ody number still arrive in your inbox, but their content is hidden behind a blur until your paid plan starts. You can wait for the trial to end, or unlock texting right away by ending the trial early.
Why texting is locked during the trial
Trial accounts with a working phone number were being used to receive one-time codes and other verification texts, then abandoned before the first charge. To prevent abuse of the service and to protect against fraud, text messages can't be read during the free trial. Nothing is lost: every text and every photo is stored in full and unlocks the moment your plan starts.
Calling, voicemail, voicemail transcripts, and sending texts all work normally during the trial. Only the content of incoming texts is hidden.
What you see
- In the Inbox list, a locked conversation shows a small lock and New text message · Unlock to read instead of a preview.
- In the conversation, the incoming message appears as a blurred bubble with the label Texting isn't included in the free trial and an Unlock to read link. Photos show Photo hidden during the free trial.
- The sender's name or number, the time, and the unread count are all shown as usual.
- Push notifications and missed-text emails say New text message · Unlock to read instead of quoting the message.
- The AI reply suggestions in the thread are paused while a message is locked (they would need to read it).
Unlock texting now by ending your trial
You must be a workspace owner or admin to end the trial. Members see the blurred messages but not the End trial button.
- Click any blurred message, or its Unlock to read link.
- Read the short statement above the button. It names your plan, the amount charged today and every month (or year) after that, and your 12-month commitment.
- Press and hold the End trial button for 3 seconds. A countdown fills the button while you hold; letting go early cancels and nothing happens.
- When the hold completes, your card is charged for the first billing period, your plan becomes active, and every kept text unlocks. Tap Read my texts to go back to the conversation.
Ending the trial can't be undone. Ody keeps a record of the confirmation (date, time, account, and IP address) together with the exact text you agreed to.
If you'd rather wait
Choose Not now, keep my free trial. Texting unlocks automatically on the day your trial ends and your first payment goes through. The date is shown at the bottom of the window and in Settings → Billing.
On the iPhone app (App Store billing)
If your plan is billed through the App Store, Apple doesn't allow a trial to end early, so the card explains that texting unlocks when your trial ends. Every text you receive is kept and becomes readable on that date. See Billing on iOS.
Troubleshooting
- "We couldn't charge your card": your bank declined the charge. Your free trial is still running and nothing changed. Update your card in Settings → Billing, then open the blurred message and try again.
- I don't see an End trial button: only workspace owners and admins can end the trial. Ask them to open the message. If you were asked to finish identity verification first, complete it from the banner in the app and try again.
- My trial started before 30 September 2026: the lock applies only to trials started on or after that date. Your texts are readable as before.
- I ended the trial but a message is still blurred: pull to refresh or reopen the conversation. If it stays blurred, contact support with the conversation link.
