Android troubleshooting

Most Android app problems come down to four things: an account that isn't fully set up, a missing microphone permission, a phone battery-saver that puts Ody to sleep, or an outdated app/Google Play services. Work through the matching section below.
Sign-in problems
- You're stuck in a sign-in loop, or the app bounces you back after signing in — the most common cause is an account whose workspace setup was never finished. The app reopens the setup wizard (workspace, number, plan + card check) so you can complete it; you can also finish it at app.ody.co in a browser and then sign in on the app again.
- The app shows "Your account is scheduled for deletion" — you (or someone with your login) asked to delete the account and it is inside the 30-day grace period. Tap Keep my account to cancel the deletion and get back in, or sign out. See Delete your account or workspace.
- "No Google account found on this device" — add one in Android Settings → Passwords & accounts, or use email and password.
- "Wrong password" — reset your password from the web sign-in page at app.ody.co, then use the new password in the app.
- You were invited to a team — accept the invite from the invite email first, then sign in on Android with that same email's account.
No audio on calls
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Ody → Permissions → Microphone and make sure it's allowed — this fixes nearly all silent-call reports. (The app asks for it on your first call; if you tapped Don't allow, this is where to turn it on.)
- Check the in-call mute button and the speaker toggle.
- If you're on Bluetooth, try switching audio output — earbuds sometimes hold the route after disconnecting.
- Still silent? Close the app from Recents, reopen, and place a test call.
Inbound calls not ringing
- The app was in the background or closed — check Settings → Apps → Ody → Battery is Unrestricted and Notifications are allowed, with the Incoming calls channel at its default importance. Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus phones ship with aggressive sleep modes that stop internet calls from waking the app; dontkillmyapp.com lists the exact switch per brand. See Notifications on Android.
- The app was open but didn't ring — check your number's ring settings on the web (Settings → Numbers): if the number uses a custom ring order, you may be later in the sequence, or outside your work schedule.
Messages not updating
- The inbox refreshes automatically while it's on screen (about every 10 seconds; an open thread about every 5). If you've been in another app, reopen Ody or pull down to refresh.
- Notifications for new messages while the app is closed depend on the same battery and notification settings as above.
When all else fails
- Update the app from Google Play — updates fix model mismatches that can make screens show empty states.
- Update Google Play services (Google sign-in and notifications depend on it).
- Confirm your phone is on Android 8.0 or later (Android 13+ for the best calling and notification experience).
- Sign out, close the app from Recents, reopen, and sign back in.
- Check whether the same data looks right at app.ody.co — that tells you whether the issue is the app or the workspace.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the app keep sending me back to the sign-in screen?
Usually the account has no activated workspace yet. Finish signup and plan activation (the app reopens the setup wizard, or use app.ody.co), then sign in again.
Why is there no sound on my calls?
Almost always microphone permission — enable it in Android Settings → Apps → Ody → Permissions → Microphone, then try again.
Why don't I get calls or notifications when the app is in the background?
Most often the phone's battery saver is putting Ody to sleep. Set Settings → Apps → Ody → Battery to Unrestricted and make sure Notifications are allowed.
