Invite teammates who work outside the US and Canada

Ody is built for businesses in the US and Canada, so by default our network blocks page loads from most other regions — a teammate abroad who opens your invite link sees "Sorry, you have been blocked". If you run a verified US business and want your own overseas contractors, virtual assistants or support staff on your workspace, contact support and we can enable international access for your workspace.

Before you start

International access is granted by Ody support, not from a setting in the app. To qualify, your workspace must meet all of the following:

  • A US-based business. Your company is formed in the United States.
  • Identity verified. The workspace owner has completed Stripe Identity verification (the Verify your identity step during onboarding, shown as verified in Settings → Billing).
  • Proof of formation. One of: Certificate of Incorporation (corporations), Certificate of Organization or Certificate of Formation (LLCs), issued by your state. The business name must match the name on your Ody account.
  • You are the workspace owner. Only the owner can make the request.

International access applies to people you invite — it never opens general sign-up from other countries.

Step-by-step

  1. Email support from the workspace owner's address and ask for international access for your workspace. Include your workspace name and the countries your teammates work from.

  2. Attach your Certificate of Incorporation / Organization / Formation (PDF or photo is fine).

  3. Support checks the document against your account and that identity verification is complete, then enables international access for your workspace. You'll get a confirmation reply.

  4. In Ody, go to Settings → Members & roles and invite your teammates (or re-send any invites you created earlier — only links created after access is enabled carry the access pass).

  5. Your teammate opens the new link, signs in, and clicks Accept & join as usual. Their access stays active for as long as they remain a member — no further steps on their side.

What your teammates get

  • Full use of the workspace from their location, with the same role and permissions you assign in Roles and permissions.
  • Access is tied to your workspace. If you remove them, or ask support to turn international access off, it lapses automatically.
  • Phone verification and identity verification stay with the workspace owner; invited teammates are not asked to verify.

Troubleshooting

  • Teammate still sees "Sorry, you have been blocked" — they are opening an invite link created before access was enabled. Revoke it and send a fresh invite, or click Copy link on the pending invite and send that link instead.
  • A teammate who already joined is now blocked — their access pass has lapsed (it renews each time they open the app, and expires after 30 days of not opening it). Contact support; we can issue them a fresh entry link.
  • Support said the request can't be approved — the most common reasons are an identity verification that is still pending, or a formation document whose business name doesn't match the account. Fix the mismatch and ask again.
  • Teammate is in a sanctioned country — a small number of jurisdictions (for example Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria) can never be enabled, regardless of your business status.

Frequently asked questions

My contractor in the Philippines sees "Sorry, you have been blocked" when they open the invite. Why?

Ody only serves the US and Canada by default, so our edge network blocks page loads from most other regions. A verified US business can ask support to allow its own teammates in — see the requirements on this page.

Can I turn international access on myself in Settings?

No. There is no switch in the app. Support enables it for your workspace after reviewing your business documents, and it stays on until you ask us to turn it off.

Does this let anyone in the world sign up for Ody?

No. It only applies to people you invite into your workspace. Sign-ups from blocked regions are still refused, and a few sanctioned countries can never be allowed.

Do I need to re-send invites after support turns it on?

Yes, if you sent them before. Invite links created after international access is enabled carry the access pass; older links do not. Re-send from Settings → Members & roles or use Copy link on the pending invite.
