Contact tags and properties
Tags are free-form labels you attach to a contact for quick filtering, and properties are key–value details (like account numbers or preferred location) stored on the contact record.
Working with tags
Open Contacts and select a contact, then click the pencil (Edit contact) button.
In the Tags field, type a label and press Enter to add it. Click a tag's × to remove it.
Click Save. Tags show as chips on the contact card.
Back on the contact list, use the tag filter chips above the list (for example All, VIP, New patient) to narrow the list to contacts carrying that tag. The search box matches names, numbers, and companies at the same time.
Working with properties
Properties are structured key–value pairs on the contact record — things like Insurance provider: Blue Shield or Preferred location: Downtown. Today they're part of the contact data model and are available through the public API for syncing from other systems; a dedicated properties editor in the contact card is on the roadmap. Notes and tags cover most day-to-day labeling in the meantime.
Good tagging habits
- Keep tags short and consistent (VIP, not "very important customer!!").
- Agree on a small shared set with your team — filters are most useful when everyone tags the same way.
- Use notes for prose, tags for categories, properties for structured data.

Frequently asked questions
Are tags shared with my team?
Yes — tags live on the contact record, which is shared across the workspace, so everyone sees the same labels.
Is there a limit on tags?
No practical limit — add as many tags as help your team. Short, consistent labels work best for the filter chips.
