Developer API

API keys, the public REST API, and the MCP server for AI integrations.

Get your Ody API key
Create, scope, and revoke Ody API keys from Settings → Developer API. Pick Live or Test mode — your key is shown once, so copy it right away.
API overview and authentication
Call the Ody REST API at api.ody.co with a Bearer key: contacts, conversations, messages, numbers and 10DLC, AI calls, your agent, and webhooks.
Connect AI tools with MCP
Add Ody as an MCP server so ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor can work your inbox, send texts, buy numbers, place AI calls, and manage your AI agent.
Buy numbers and register texting via the API
Search and buy phone numbers and file 10DLC messaging registration through the Ody API or MCP — same billing, gates, and account as the app.
Place AI calls and manage Astra via the API
Have Astra dial out with POST /calls, configure and publish your AI agent, and route numbers to it — via the Ody REST API or MCP tools.
API rate limits and best practices
Every Ody API key gets 600 requests per minute. Read the RateLimit headers, back off on 429s, and follow these key-security best practices.
Receive webhooks and verify signatures
Register HTTPS webhook endpoints via the Ody API, subscribe to events like message.received, and verify signed deliveries with your whsec_ secret.
Build safely with test mode
Create an ody_test_ API key to build against real workspace data while sends, number purchases, AI calls, and 10DLC filings are simulated.
Pagination, idempotency, and error handling
Page through Ody API lists with cursors, retry sends safely with the Idempotency-Key header, and handle the uniform error envelope and request IDs.
SDK quickstart: TypeScript and Python
Get started with Ody's TypeScript and Python SDKs — send messages, buy numbers, place AI calls, manage your agent, paginate, and verify webhooks.
